Recycle + Freecycle

Here’s the idea, it’s like a garage sale but anything you bring and put out on the table is given away for free!! This is a great way to clean out all that clutter and feel fantastic while giving it away! It feels totally empowering knowing your helping others get what they need for free!!

At this time we are looking for people who would like to participate. If you are interested all you have to do is bring a table, clean out your closet and garage, basement and attic. Then bring your free items to recycle and come join in the party!!

When: Saturday, July 5th, 2008 from 10a - 4p

Where: At the Glass Academy, 25331 Trowbridge, Dearborn.

Checkout FURNACE Design Studio

FURNACE Design Studio is located in the Glass Academy and will be working on many commissions in the upcoming months. One exciting project is to install a sculpture at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course to be in the main dining room. Construction continues at Stage 30 in Commerce Township where FURNACE will be decorating the main bar and dining areas with some unique lamps and wine bottle lighting. Neon

Hoopin' for the Hood Presents...

An all-level hoop dance workshop with Mercedes of Chicago Hoop Dance Saturday, July 12th 12:30pm. An hour and 15 minutes of instruction and an optional hour of group practice with the instructor available for one on one questions and guidance. No experience needed. Ages 12 and up welcome. $20 for 16 yrs and older, $10 for 12-15 yrs old. Bring your own hoop or order one custom from Micha. There will be hoops for sale and to borrow at the event. All proceeds from hoop sales go to Hoopin' for the Hood. If possible, please RSVP via email or 313-674-6424 to Micha.

SAMPLER CLASSES

Ever desire to blow glass and see what it is like? Well, now is your chance. Saturday, June 21st we are holding our next glassblowing sampler class from 10 am until 2 pm. This is an opportunity for you to get up close and personal with molten glass. You will see several short demonstrations then have a chance to make your very own handblown project. The cost for this class is $100 and includes all materials. Only 2 spots left SO HURRY and call 313-561-4527 and ask to speak to Margie.

Youth Summer Enrichment Classes

We teach art enrichment classes to youth that focus on recycling, nature, and the glass arts. Come see what's really hot in our Young Sprouts program! Click here to find the summer schedule and class listing.

Rental Rates

The Glass Academy is available for rental. We can host specialty parties such as the Red Hat Ladies, youth groups such as homeschoolers, and more. Please contact the studio for rates and times available.

The hot shop is also available for rental to seasoned glassblowers. Please contact the studio for current rates.
